This full brick home is on a sloping site, leaving the living areas at the rear a long way off of the garden level. The solution to the problem was to add a new family room/meals/kitchen area at a half level down, but keeping the ceiling and roof level at the existing height. This created a high, bright airy room, with the existing dining room at the higher level looking over the top of a half wall above the kitchen at the garden level. Polished timber floors throughout link the existing and new, with feature colour walls by the owner, a dealer in Porter’s paints. (click thumbnail for full-size image) |
