To capture a western view over the centre of Bowral, the body of the house was placed high on the site and cut into the slope, the master bedroom upstairs and the lounge and meals downstairs facing the view to the right in the photographs. The guest bedroom wing and garage step down the slope towards the street, with a large deck on the front capturing maximum northern sunshine and a view of Mt. Gibraltar.
